Brandy DUI – Fatal Crash

On January 30th, 2007, R&B Singer and Actress Brandy was involved in a fatal car accident that killed Awatef Aboudihah.
Brandy Norwood, 27, was driving on the Los Angeles freeway when she hit Awatef Aboudihah’s car. As many of you know how Los Angeles traffic is, it’s often stop and go with cars moving at very slow speeds. As Aboudihah’s car was hit, she lunged forward and hit another car, inevitably sliding into the center of the freeway and being hit again.
Aboudihah, 38, was taken to the hospital and died due to blunt-force injuries. She had one child. The parents of Aboudihah is now suing Brandy for $50 Million. Brandy, charged with a misdemeanour vehicular manslaughter, faces 1 year in prison if found guilty.
In December of 2007, the LA City Attourney decided not to file charges against Brandy over the car accident.
Finally in November of 2009, Brandy made a last settlement with the parents of Aboudihah. She previously settled with Aboudihah’s two (2) kids for $300,000 each, and another driver, Mallory Ham, that was injured in the crash. Mallory Ham suffered facial injuries and a severely broken nose.
Brandy & her insurance company has tried to settle with Aboudihah’s husband, Marouane Hdidou, for $1.2 Millon, however, he has refused the settlement amount.
